Larker is the musical alias of a Montreal-born songwriter whose name reflects both playfulness and depth — a nod to the lark, a songbird, and the lightheartedness of a “lark,” or joke. While the name hints at not taking things too seriously, Larker’s music is anything but casual. His slightly experimental alternative rock blends impassioned vocals, unusual chord progressions, and shifting time signatures, all anchored by melodies that feel instantly familiar yet entirely his own.

Music has been a constant since childhood — from pounding ice cream tubs with pencils at age five to figuring out songs by ear on his aunt’s basement keyboard. Her passing, and the family upheaval that followed, led him to her old guitar. At ten, he began lessons and almost immediately started writing songs, using music as both escape and compass.

By fourteen, he had become the de facto leader of his first band simply because he was the only one writing songs. Over the years, he fronted multiple projects — Confusion In Stereo, Speakerton, Stepper Rhodes, and Dukes of Burgundy — playing Montreal’s most iconic venues, including Metropolis, Le Spectrum, and Foufounes Électriques. A whirlwind relationship and early fatherhood shifted his focus toward providing for his family, but the music never stopped.

His upcoming debut album, Romanticide (Fall 2025, Finicky Records), is a self-produced collection written across the twelve-year span of that intense, on-and-off relationship — capturing love, loss, survival, and redemption with honesty and emotional force.
